Nuhmudira's Salvation

RESTRICTION: This quest (I believe) can only be done ONCE PER CHARACTER, EVER.  So choose wisely...

The Story So Far...

  After last month's sacrifice of her apprentice to bring new magics to the land, Nuhmudira has gone missing!  Is it because of this sacrifice?  Could it be another evil plot of Martine?

Step 0: Preparation

  •  For Gelidite Library - Fire and Frost Weapons and protections

  • For Labyrinth - None, no monsters in this dungeon

Step 1: Nuhmudira is Missing!

   Journey to any of the Agents of the Arcanum and talk to them.  This is what they will tell you:

Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "It is a sad time my friend. Our leader, Nuhmudira, has left us and wandered into the northern wilds with her new apprentice. I cannot believe the rumors that are circulating about her having sacrificed her closest confidant, and protector...but..."
The agent sighs and looks to meet your eyes.
Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "We want you to help us find her. Please. She headed to the north, somewhere deep into the mountains. We do not know exactly where, but there is a rumor of an ancient library that once belonged to the Gelidites hidden somewhere. If you can please find Nuhmudira."

Step 2: The Gelidite Library

   The Gelidite Library is located at 69.3n, 17.2w out in a very portal-lacking region.  I got there by taking the Snow Valley portal from Tou-Tou, and running the 20km from there.  The monsters on the run typically consist of Drudge Raveners, Lurkers, and Stalkers and Granite and Copper Golems.

Step 3: The hidden wall

   Once inside the Library, buff your Fire and Frost weapons and protects.  You are going to head down to a room full of Flammas.  Once you kill all of them, you will find a hidden passage behind the wall.

  Follow this down and you will face some Frost Elementals, called Shivvers.  Take these guys out and work your way down to the Labyrinth portal.

Step 4: The Labyrinth

  Here is a map of the Labyrinth to aid you on your way.  You can go ahead and remove all protects and mana eating items at this point, as there are no monsters in this dungeon at all.  You appear in a small room with four doors, a dead oak golem, and and empty binding for a book on the floor.

  Pick up the binding, as you will need it for the rest of this quest.  You will be collecting a total of eight notes (one shown below) which will all get placed into the binding to make a complete book.

  Now, this place gets very confusing, and it is easy to get lost for a very long time, as this dungeon is HUGE.  There are notes down each of the passages, so I will show each passage to you one at a time.

Step 4a: South

  This one is quick.  There is one note down this passage.  Simply run down the passage to the 1st fork and and follow the left branch.  The note is there just a little ways down.

Step 4b: West

  This one gets a little longer.  There are two notes to pick up in this passage. Run down to the fork and take each branch.  There is a note down each one.

Step 4c: East

  Ok, this one takes a bit.  There are four notes down this passage.  Here are the directions to each:

  • Note 1: Go down the passage a bit to the 1st fork.  Take the fork leading to the right.  At the next fork, hang a right.  You will come to a circular passage.  Through the door in the north wall, there is a note.

  • Note 2: Go back to the circular area and take the door in the south wall.  Down that passage bit you will find a note

  • Note 3: Keep going a bit more in there and you will find a second note.

  • Note 4:  Head back up to the circular passage.  Go back the way you came (left out the door) and you will come to a fork.  Take it to the right and follow it a long ways.  Finally you will come to a room with the 4th note in it.

  Now head back to the fork, take it to you right, then hang a left at the next fork.  You will find yourself back in the room with the dead oak golem and the book.

Step 4d: North

  Now we are down to the last part. To get the last note you need, head down this passageway to a fork.  Take it to the right.  Run down a ways further and you will come to another fork.  Take a left.  Down a little bit further you will come to a third fork.  Take a left.  The note is a little past that.

Step 5: The Book

  Now you have all the pages to fill the binding you picked up earlier.  One by one, add each page to the book (they have to go into the book in a certain order.  Just keep trying them all until you get them all in there.)  Once you have your book put together, its time to head to the final area.  Backtracking, you need to take two rights, which will take you back to the first fork.  Take the fork to the right (which leads down...)

Step 6: The Oubliette Gatekeeper

  You will come to a room.  In this room is a Granite Golem called the "Oubliette Gatekeeper".

  There is also a portal and a dais with a blue crystal on top.  Talk to the golem and he will tell you the following:

Oubliette Gatekeeper tells you, "It is forbidden to pass these walls, unless you have been given the permission of he who watches the gate.  To be given that passage hand me your key so that I may verify the inscriptions and grant you access.  But be forewarned, your entry to this place will place you in direct contact with the accused.  Make your decision wisely for you shall damn forever or free the criminal within."

Oubliette Gatekeeper tells you, "The key, of course is a writing infused with the magic of my masters, had you forgotten.  I will see that the power of the dais is infused into the writings and returned to you."

  Now, at this point you simply hand the book to the golem and he will tell you:

Oubliette Gatekeeper gives you Nuhmudira's Charm.

Oubliette Gatekeeper tells you, "Read well the words within, this is a living being that has been imprisoned.  There is too much passion in the writing for it to be otherwise.  Choose wisely for the work within has never been used upon living flesh before and the results are as of yet untested and unknown.  This prisoner must be guilty of heinous crimes against my master."

Oubliette Gatekeeper tells you, "You may now pass.  Remember, your judgment is final."

Ok, go through the portal behind the golem and you will appear in the judgment area.

Step 7: Nuhmudira: Shall she live or die?

  When you appear in the judgment area, you will hear a woman crying.  Nuhmudira is far above you, out of reach of anyone.  There are several notes lying on the floor, rantings or confessions of Nuhmudira.   There are also two levers in this room.  One has a skull on the top, and the other is plain.  You must choose which lever to pull.

  • If you pull the plain lever, Nuhmudira will be condemned to her fate.  You will be portaled to the surface.  Outside the dungeon there is an NPC you can now talk to, detailed in the Callous Heart quest writeup.

 

  • If you pull the skull lever, Nuhmudira will be saved and you will die.  You will gain 5% vitae and return to the lifestone.  HOWEVER, you will not lose any items.  This includes the regular Singularity weapons.  I have verified this myself, as I chose this option and have a "lose on death" Singularity Sword.  Once you appear at the lifestone, head over to the nearest Agent of the Arcanum and you will receive thanks and a letter of introduction.  You now have a new quest to complete.  The "Raiding Creatures" quest is documented here.
