Isparian Arms Note: This quest has undergone serious changes in the June Patch. I am working on an update. (Adapted from the original Atlan Weapons quest) (Thanks go out to Storm Seeker of Frostfell for the core data for this quest!) Ok, this is the quest for motes. You need to kill TONS of golems, as you need a total of 16 motes to make an Isparian weapon, and golems drop a mote about 1 in 20 to 1 in 50 or so. Step 0: Preparation To get the Isparian weapon you will need: Step 1: Getting the motes The following locations are known golem dungeons, and are good for getting motes: Step 2: Combining the motes Once you have 16 motes, go find yourself a good Alchemist (250+ Alchemy skill) and have him combine them into (hopefully) a Quality Pyreal Ingot Step 3: Enchanted Decanters Ok, up to this point has been the basics which are also used for the Atlan weapons quest. Now we are going to diverge from that quest significantly. To start off, go to the Arcanum Consortium, located just north of Xarabydun at 41.9s, 16.2e. There you will find an alchemist named Ciandra. Talk to her and she will tell you: Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist yawns. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "Hello traveler, we are pleased that you have found us out here in the desert. It has been a difficult task building up this place with all of the suspicion that has recently been cast upon the Arcanum in the wake of Nuhmudira's disappearance. Rest assured however, that though her methods may have been suspect, her intentions were pure. I know that this may be difficult to fathom." Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "I am sorry, I have not been sleeping well as of late. You see, we have been working day and night to see the work that was begun by Nuhmudira is completed. We redoubled our efforts once she disappeared but were still missing a pivotal link in our preparations until the most unlikely ally appeared to us." Ciandra's voice falls to a whisper. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "Please keep this as quiet as you can. Asheron, came to us. He said that he wanted to help, that he was worried about Nuhmudira and he...well he gave us some very important and revolutionary guidance. Since that time we have been making great strides forward in our research. So much so that we think that soon - No I should not over speak myself." Ciandra smiles warmly. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "Some still cower in fear of him, but without Nuhmudira we were falling behind, and no matter how great our efforts we still could not decipher the secrets that were in our way. But with his assistance we have overcome the greatest obstacle that stood before us in the enhancement of the weapons crafted from Pyreal." Ciandra giggles with glee, and slowly regains her composure. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "We've been hard at work on the pieces that he asked us to craft for him. We await word from one of his emissaries to know that we can set people out on the task of collecting the final pieces that he is helping us procure. But he has been silent for one full cycle of the moons now. We have begun to worry." Ciandra looks you up and down, and finally shakes her head as a smile spreads across her face. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "You look like someone that I can trust. Please seek out Asheron's Emissary, it should be found near Eastham. Speak to it and return to me and tell me what information it imparted to you."
Now you need to go find Asheron's Emissary. It is located near Eastham at 17.8n, 64.3e. When you get there it will tell you: Emissary of Asheron tells you, "I have been forewarned of your coming and will impart to you the important aspects of what must be done to better enhance your weaponry. Please, listen carefully. I will only impart this knowledge to you but once, as is Asheron's will." Emissary of Asheron tells you, "The power of this worlds magic is strongest here on Dereth it is why his people chose this place as a refuge and place of learning. Lord Asheron has found a font of pure mana, the essence of all magic beneath this land. He has begun excavation of a tunnel that will lead you there so that you may collect this essence and find an application with what your Arcanum teaches." Emissary of Asheron tells you, "You must take care however to not expose yourself to the mana. You will need a device by which to contain the essence, else it twist your form into something that cannot be saved. Your Arcanum has been working on such a device. Return to Ciandra and ask her for something to harness the essence within. Then you should be ready to embark into the earth to obtain the essence."
Return to Ciandra and this is what will happen: Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "We were afraid that this might be the case." Ciandra turns away for a second, then looks back at you. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "In the past few months I am sure you are aware that Martine has been harrying our people with assaults that have finally spread to the mainland. His latest assault was done solely against the Arcanum. Somehow he divined the location of our research facilities not far outside of Al-Jalima." Ciandra mutters something under breath and scowls. She regains her composure. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "Sorry...we lost some very important research there. Not to mention that we, as researchers, are not strong enough to re-enter that place. Oh yes, some of his previous incursions were much smaller in scope but this was a calculated strike. It occurred shortly after Asheron's visit to us. He brought those horrible hollow Olthoi with him, and many other foes." Ciandra sighs. Ciandra, Arcanum Alchemist tells you, "I will understand if you no longer want to aid us in this endeavor hero, I too am terrified of what Martine is capable of. But if you choose to go, you should collect as many decanters as you can from within. You look as though you could carry...ten. Yes, ten should be more than enough for you. We should leave some for anyone else that wants to help us don't you think? Collect ten and return to me and I will tell you where you should be focusing next. Be careful though. You must do this within the next three cycle of days, or start over."
Ok, now that the running around is all done, we get the quest going. Step 4: The Enchanted Decanters Proceed to the Arcanum Research Facility, located near Al-Jalima at 5.8n, 6.3e. Here is a map of the dungeon. Once inside you will be fighting Simalcra. Be careful as these are of the Martinate's Holding type, and can be rather nasty. Once you are in, stay to the right, taking the 1st door and holding to the right path. You can collect 10 decanters, which I recommend doing.
Step 5: Decanter of Essence Next, you will need to take your decanters over to the Fathomless Chasm located at 36.9s, 63.4e. Inside this "Dungeon" is portals that are level restricted to ensure a solid challenge no matter what level you are.
Now, I did the 70+ dungeon and it was rough. The dungeon was full of "Dual" Elementals. Elementals of Acid and Lightning, Fire and Acid, etc. We had a mage with us with over 400 buffed life skill and they resisted him 4 out of 5 times vulning. Once the vulns got off though, we were able to take them down pretty quickly using piercing attacks.
Once you get to the jump down into the bottom it gets rough. The boss creature for my dungeon was a level 650 Crystal Golem that we absolutely could not kill. It resisted just about everything thrown at it, and we were only hitting it for 1-2 points of damage with a VII buffed bandit rapier and I have a 400 buffed weapon skill. Finally we figured out that most of us keep the monsters occupied while 1-2 people filled their decanters, then we switched. From what I understand though, in the lower level dungeons you can actually kill the boss creature and then the rest of the monsters will all die. ADDITIONAL NOTE: You must click above head height on the mana pool, otherwise your character will try to walk forward into it instead of picking it up. Step 6: Making the Ingot Now that you have the core essence, you will need diamond powder. Diamond powder can be gained from killing Diamond Golems out in the dires. Once you have this, hand over the Essence and the powder to an Alchemist with a 425 or so buffed Alchemy skill (remember, you can use a focusing stone on them to boost their skill some more, and I also recommend Minor Focus and a focusing stone on the Alchemist as well. My friend's Alchemist was at 468 when I got my perfect ingot). Use the essence on the diamond powder and (if you pass the skill check) you will get Thick Diamond Oil. If you fail, you will have thin oil, which makes a lesser weapon. Use the Thick Diamond Oil on a Quality Pyreal Ingot and if you pass the skill check you will end up with a Perfect Diamond Infused Ingot. If you fail, you will end up with a lesser one. Step 7: Stamping the Ingot At this point you will need to go with a powerful mage to crater village (64.8N 13.6E) and go to the top of the tower there. You will need to have 9,500 pyreals on you. Buy the appropriate glyph from Silencia. Have the mage buff your appropriate skills (a 400 skill gives you roughly a 50-50 chance) (is this true for the wand, too?!?... Mana C=Focus + Willpower /6 as opposed to Weapon skill=attribute+attribute/3) to have a good chance at what you want) Double click on the glyph you bought, then on the Perfect Diamond Infused Pyreal Ingot. If you are successful, you will now have a Perfect Isparian {weapon type} ingot to make into the perfect Isparian weapon, like mine:
Step 8: Getting your weapon Give the stamped ingot to the Magma Golem (Motey) and it will hand you an Isparian weapon as shown below: Powering-up Your Weapon There is also a "Shimmering" Stone available for the Isparian Weapons. To get one, take a Singularity Key to Josef in Martine's Retreat, which is located in Rithwic next to the statue. Josef will give you a "Gerlin's Key". Take this down to the bottom, past a weird invisible floor to a secret room. Use it on the Blue Virindi-style Chest to get a Prismatic Gem. Use an Intricate Carving Tool (no skill check) on the stone to turn it into a "Prismatic Gem." You will now have an "Elemental Slayer" version of the Isparian Weapon. Here are what I believe are all the changes (I have the wand and sword, and took a screenie of the bow): Prismatic Isparian Weapon Mods | | | | | Melee | Ranged | Wand | | Effects | Elemental Slayer, Level IV Vulnerability on all elements | | Defender II, Blood Drinker VI, Swift Killer III, Armor VI, Heart Seeker IV | Defender II, Blood Drinker VI, Swift Killer III, Armor VI, Heart Seeker IV | Item V, Creature V, Life V, War V, Focus V, Willpower V, Mana Conservation V | | Spellcraft | 300 | 300 | 300 | | Difficulty | 150 | 150 | 150 | | Requirements | varies | varies | varies |

Power-up your weapon with elemental stones. These spells are in addition to the ones already on them. The Isparian Weapons take both Major and Minor Atlan stones. One interesting note is that when there is no stone in these weapons, it does not require any mana for the Aptitude spell to function.
Major Atlan Stones (Refer to write-ups for details) | | | | | | Shivering | Smoldering | Sparking | Stinging | | Value | 5,000 | 5,000 | 5,000 | 5,000 | | Burden | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | | Effects (Ranged) | Defender II, Blood Drinker V, Heart Seeker IV, Magic Yield VI, Endurance IV (Bow), Quickness IV (XBow), ?? The Isparian Weapons Modifying tool To make a tool to remove Atlan stones from the weapons, you will need a diamond heart and some Chorizite powder. Use the powder on the essence to make nullification oil, then apply that to the diamond heart. Then you need a lock picker with a 300+ (buffed) skill to carve the heart for you. |
