Flags and Flag Stamps

RESTRICTIONS: None

The Story So Far...

Recently, Grievvers have been giving Stonehold a bit of trouble.  Researchers were sent out, and have not returned!  You mission: discover what happened to the researchers and why the grievvers have become so bold!

Step 0: Preparation

  •  Grievvers in the areas you will be in typically attack with piercing and lightning, and cast level III and IV spells.  Dress appropriately and don't forget the protects!

Step 1: Getting There

After talking and spending money on a town crier, you will eventually get the following message:

Town Crier tells you, "A Sharpshooter has reported spotting the missing Exploration Society Researcher, Verdentine Magnan. The archer says that Magnan was busy talking to himself on a hill overlooking a valley heavily infested with Grievvers in the Northwest Woods at 75.5N, 20.6W."

  So head on over there!

Step 2: The Researcher

Once you get to the coordinates, up on a hill you will find a researcher named Verdentine Magnan.  Talk to him and he will tell you:

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "I'm afraid I find the recent Grievver activity in this valley somewhat unsettling. They seem to guard the area against all other creatures. I've never seen Grievvers build a nest, but I think that's just what they are doing. Perhaps the lack of Shadow influence for so long is allowing them to return to a more natural existence. If you think yourself brave enough I would be very grateful to know what they are doing in the far east of the valley."

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "What? A minor setback? Ah, yes the lifestones. You wouldn't think that was any worse than the hundreds of other ways we can die and be reborn anew into this world, but Grievvers prefer to eat their food alive I'm afraid. They try to injure their prey and cocoon it for consumption at their convenience. I... I sometimes hear horrible sounds from down their. Be careful here I beg you."

On the East side of the valley, after passing by some little tiny grievvers, you will see a mob of them, and a dungeon, labeled the Grievver Caves (75.9n, 19.1w).  Here is a map of the dungeon (courtesy of ACMaps.)

Step 3: Find the Spinner Grievver

Ok, now that you are in the dungeon, following the map is easy:

  1. Four way intersection: turn right

  2. Four way intersection: turn right

  3. Big room: hallway on your left

  4. 2nd Big room: hallway on your right

  5. Final big room: Look for the big grey Grievver with all the Health.

Killing this Grievver is not very difficult, it just has a lot of health.  It only appears to cast level IV spells though.  Loot the corpse you get your silk.  Next, rather than fight your way back up, simply cast Portal Recall to re-appear at the entrance.

Step 4: Back to the Researcher

Once you return to the researcher guy, hand him the silk.  This is what he will tell you:

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "That's some very nice Silk! Got it from a Grievver you say? Well you shouldn't try and get anymore for at least two weeks. We have to think about conservation don't we?"

Verdentine Magnan gives you Silk.

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "Here you go. Very interesting substance, it's a much finer quality than the webbing I've seen all over the valley. You know, I've heard of two machines able to spin fine materials like this into cloth. I seem to remember they were both found in Castles somewhere... let me check my notes."

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "Yes, here it is!"

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "It says here that there was a Spinning Wheel found in a Castle to the Northeast of Shoushi overrun by skeletons... and here it says that a Loom was recently found in a food cellar at Neydisa Castle. The residents dragged it up to a tower room, but were unable to get it to produce any useable cloth."

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "I think our insect friends have provided you with the materials required. You might try seeing if you can get the devices to work."

Verdentine Magnan tells you, "Good luck in your travels my friend! I am going to continue my studies of these fascinating creatures here. Please, only kill them out of necessity so as not to disturb the fragile ecological balance in this area."

Ok, now it's time for making the flag...

Step 5: Making the Flag

Head to Shoushi and run to the old Skeleton Castle (I remember many adventures here when I was back around level 10-15...) located at 24.3s, 76.6e.  As advertised, it will have about 20 or so Skeleton and Skeleton Warriors hanging around.  If you go into the main castle and upstairs, you will find the Spinning Wheel.  Use it and you will get a spool of silk.

Next, head over to Neydisa Castle, located at 69.6n, 17.6e.  According to ACExplorer, the fastest route (from Arwic) is as follows:

  1. Take subway to Mayoi

  2. Head over to the Songview Settlement via the portal at 60.84s, 80.18e.

  3. Run to Neydisa from there (approx. 11.5 km.)

Once you get to Neydisa, take the ramp up to the top of the front part of the castle, and use the loom located there.  You will be given back a flag.

Step 6: Dyes and Flag Stamps

Now that you have your flag, you can also Dye it (refer to the Dye Process writeup) and add a stamp to it, which can also be dyed.  To find the stamp you want, refer to to the creature kill list below:
