Frest Greelving's Haunted Mansion

RESTRICTION: None

The Story So Far...

Frest Greelving, a mansion owner near Lytelthorpe, has run screaming from his mansion in the middle of the night!  It seem that something has possessed his home and he is too terrified to return!  You must help him to recover his belongings, and try to free the mansion of it's curse!

Step 0: Preparation

Step 1: Getting There

Ok, starting this quest off the best route is as follows:

  1. Take the Rithwic portal from Arwic Subway

  2. Jump into the Lytelthorpe portal nearby at 9.5n, 60e.

  3. From here, run over to the Osric Cottages Portal at 2.1n, 50.5e.

  4. Take a quick jog over to Frest Greevling at 6n, 43.7e

Step 2: Help me please!

Talk to Frest, and he will tell you:

Frest Greelving tells you, " Traveler, please!  I wonder if I may call on you to help me?  An unnamed evil permeates my mansion.  I cannot go back in there!  There are some objects of sentimental value I wish to have retrieved from my house.  I will reward you if you do."

Frest Greelving tells you, " I shall give you a copy of my journal in which I have recorded the growing horror within that house.  It also lists the items I would appreciate you retrieving from me.  Also, if you should discover any clues of what is causing this horror, please bring them to me."

Frest Greelving gives you Journal of Frest Greevling. (Text Here)

Step 3: Frest's Shirt, Plate, and Emerald

Inside the mansion you need to recover a few items.  These are the items, their approximate locations, and the rewards:

ItemLocationReward
Frest Greelving's Puffy ShirtChest at top of left tower3,000 pyreals
Frest Greelving's EmeraldChest in front leftmost room3,000 experience
Antique PlatterChest at top of right tower4,000 experience
An Old ChronicleZombie at top of right towerTake to translator

Now that you have recovered all the items, turn them into Frest for the rewards.  When you turn in the "An Old Chronicle" this is what he will say:

Frest Greelving tells you, "Ah, you found something.  An ancient document... Perhaps it may explain this haunting."

Frest Greelving tells you, "Hmm, I believe the document is written in Yalaini.  If you take it to Bretself the Translator who resides in Cragstone, he should be able to translate it for you.  Please bring it back to me when it is translated."

Step 4: Translating the Book

Now head off to the Cragstone Library (26n, 47e) and get it translated.  (Translated Text Here)  When you get back, give it to Fest and he will say:

Frest Greelving tells you, "The translated version.  So, it truly was written in Yalaini!"

Frest Greelving tells you, "Have you read this already?  This chronicle of terror chills my soul."

Frest Greelving tells you, "Alas, it appears my gripe is with the Arcanum builders who constructed the mansion here.  This ground is cursed and perhaps should not be inhabited.  Yet, perhaps youmay be able to do something to stop the horror that grips this place.  I understand now that it comes from beneath the mansion.  THere is... something... down there.  If you cn eliminate this terror I would reward you."

Frest Greelving tells you, "I now give you permission to enter my mansion dungeon.  Here is the key to he chamber where the portal is, you already know why I secured it.  Take good care."

Step 5: The Staff of Nullification

Once inside the mansion dungeon, you are looking for a break in the normal layout, where the wall has been knocked out.  Here is a screenie of it:

Once inside, keep going.  You are looking for a large room with a zombie in it (under a big blue storm cloud and skull) as shown here:

Step 6: The Dark Sarcophagus

Now that you have the staff, find the room with the Dark Sarcophagus in it. (Shown here:)

You need to get a critical hit on it to qualify for your reward.  I used the staff and even without the skill got a crit fairly quickly.  Once you have your crit, return to Frest for your reward, which is an Evil Couch as shown below:
