Basalt Blade and Obsidian Axe

Stats Updated 8 April, 2003

The Story So Far...

In the September 2001 patch, certain new monsters appeared, and the were gifted with special items they dropped on death.  The average drop rate for these items appears to be roughly 1 in 4.

Step 0: Preparation

  • Bludgeoning and Armor Protection

  • Magical Protects

Step 1: Find and Kill a Basalt Golem

Most likely, you will find them in the Obsidian Plains.  When you are ready to attack it, buff up real good and go for it!  It will drop a Basalt Blade on roughly 1 in 4.  If you are an axe user, you will then want to take it to a Trophy Collector, and s/he will turn it into an Obsidian Axe.

Basalt Blade

A large chunk of volcanic rock with a middle thin enough to grasp. The fiery interior can be seen through the cracks in the stone.  There is a slot in the rock that you think a haft may be able to fit into. (Give it to a trophy collector to transform it into an axe.)

Obsidian Axe

An axe made with a sharpened piece of volcanic rock. The blade seems to be unevenly cut, however it is still quite sharp. The handle seems to be a worn,  old Golem Jo.
