| Linvak Tukal (Heart, Mind, and Arm) The Story So Far... "Anything can be built with the calm and righteous application of strength." Obliteration awaits. And all prefer the end over the corruption that prefaces the fall. What shall shelter us from horror? Three tools, my brethren, three choices to make. You must be pure. All sound foundations start from the heart that knows its cause is just. Know you are right, know your strivings are free of taint and envy, and nothing can corrupt you. You must be focused. A builder starts with a just cause, but he must not allow passions to adulterate the building. Know where you are strong, know where you are weak. Know and be at peace with the knowing. You must be strong. All your passion and preparations come to naught without toil and sweat. We are our strength, our will shall be done. Trust in your arm, for it creates with its power. Strength. Focus. Purity. These are the tools we have to ward off decay. Let each be a thick root of our society. Each tenet is powerful alone, but a society that entwines them shall never fall. Never fall. [Translation Note: These words were written by Lauriagnel, the First Matriarch, for a speech to the Assembly of Elders over two thousand years ago, shortly after the Prime Compact was formed. Less than a year after her speech, she and her family were killed in the Liberty Rebellion, leading to the period known as the Ceaseless Night, which lasted for over a hundred years, until the Second Compact was formed. The Traditions of the Heart, the Mind, and the Arm, while having only a small following during the Ceaseless Night, have enjoyed a large resurgence after the Second Compact. Even on this new world, where the Second Compact has become largely meaningless, the Traditions survive.] The above text, titled, "Arm, Mind, and Heart," is available from Aurutis in the town of Linvak Tukal. Getting your copy of this text is the trigger that starts the main part of the quest. Preparation
Step 0: Getting Inside Linvak Tukal, The City of the Lugians To get inside the city of the Lugians, you will need to get through the new lugian dungeon, located at 76.7s, 28.0e, near Q'alabar. (Full map here) Lifestoning at Q'alabar will make it much easier if you die, by the way. The dungeon map is shown below:
At the end of this dungeon is the spawn point of the 1st Lugian Commander, which you will need to know for step 1. Step 1: Meet Aurutis Aurutis is the Golden colored Lugian shown below. He is located to your right up the ramp when you arrive in the city. You will need to talk to him to get the Arm, Mind, and Heart book that starts this quest. He will tell you about the Lugian Raiders who have stolen some valuable Lugian Artifacts and ask for your help.
Once you accept the book, the quest timer begins... assuming no one else has already started this quest, or left it unfinished. The only way to know is to do the next step in this quest, wait for up to 25 minutes or so, and if the Lugian Commander doesn't spawn, go on to the next step after that. This is, unfortunately, what happened when I did the quest. Step 2: The Trapped Commander Now that you have grabbed the book from Aurutis, you will need to run through the entire dungeon again, to get to the trapped Lugian Commander at the end (assuming he wasn't already there when you went through the 1st time.) Kill him and you will receive the Lugian Armor (though not always). Go into the city, speak with Master Ulkas, and you can trade this armor in for the Bastion of Tukal, if you like the color of it better. Step 3: The Master of The Hunt - Meet the Dread and Dire Mattekars (Gigas Lugians) From the time you kill the trapped commander, it takes roughly 5-10 minutes for the Master of the Hunt to spawn at approximately 80.6s, 37.8e. He will spawn along with a Lugian Lieutenant, 4 Dread Mattekars, and a few Dire Mattekars. If you keep killing the Lieutenant and the Mattekars, they will keep spawning until the Master of the Hunt is killed. This is very useful if you wish to get multiple Cloths of the Arm or try to get some mattekar claws to make those items.
Once you kill the Master of the Hunt, shown below, (who will drop the Lugian Scepter most of the time), about 1/2 the rest of the monsters around will drop dead. Please note that you cannot turn the Cloth of the Arm into the Sleeves of Inexhaustibility without a High Mana Conversion Skill (though to use it you must have Axe skill specialized), and the Cloth is no-drop, no-give.
Step 4: Lugian Commander Number Two (Extas Lugians) Now that the Master of the Hunt is dead, you have roughly 5-10 minutes before the next baddie spawns. Run to approximately 87.1s, 27.1e and you will find a camp of tougher Lugians, including some Extas. The same rule here applies. The Lieutenant drops the Scepter of the Mind every time you kill him, until you kill the Commander to get the Lugian Crest. Here is a screen-shot of me fighting them (yes, I solo'd this quest up until the next spawn point.) Please note that you cannot turn the Scepter of the Mind into the Staff of Clarity without a High Spear skill (though to use it you must have Mana Conversion specialized), and the scepter is no-drop, no-give.
Step 5: The Final Commander (Tiatus Lugians) The final step is to run to the 3rd Lugian Commander, located at 67.9s, 32.8e. Now, this part was difficult. The first time I tried this solo, I died horribly, surrounded by Tiatus Lugians throwning boulder into the small of my back. Now, I am level 60 and wear Pre-Patch Greater Shadow Koujia, so that's a pretty good feat. The second time I went with two friends and it was much easier. The trick is to run in circles around them (all three of you) until they put away the nasty boulders and attack you with their weapons. Also, for this part I recommend casting Bludgeon Bane on every piece of armor you are wearing. The Lieutenant at this spawn drops the final artifact, the Blade of the Heart, and the Commander drops the Lugian Pauldron. Please note that you cannot turn the Blade of the Heart into the Spear of Purity without a high Axe skill (though to use it you must have spear specialized), and the blade is no-drop, no-give. Step 6: Return to Linvak Tukal Ok, now that you have all the pieces, it is time to return to Linvak Tukal and claim your prizes. Run back though the dungeon once again and enter the city.
