Note: This quest has been updated with the January 2003 changes brought about in the Slumbering Giant patch.  This added 3 more spines and changed it from a one time only quest to a once a month quest.  Who knows, there may even be a new ruby out there somewhere...

Step 0: Preparation

  For this quest you will need the following items:

• Spine from an Armoredillo (See chart at bottom for effects this will have on the Silifi)

• A mage to buff your Axe skill if below 225

Step 1: Retrieving the Haft

  The Haft is is given to you by Leikotha in Leikotha's Crypt (10.2S  31.3E)  The haft is no-drop no-give.  Take the broken haft to Kayna bint Iswas (1.8S  36.6E) and she will repair it for you.

Step 2: Making the Silifi

  Have a mage buff your axe skill to a minimum of 200 (225+ recommended).  Double-click on the spine and the click on the haft.  If you are successful, you will now have a very nice Silifi of Crimson stars.  If you fail, the haft will break and you will need to take it back to Kayna to have her repair it again, and you will also need another spine.

Step 3: Powering up the Silifi

  Ok, nice weapon, but no magic.  To power up the Silifi, read the SoCS Rubies quest.  You can only use 3 of the stones in the Silifi, and you can only get one Silifi every 30 days.  If you get any new info on any of the spines, please email me.
