1-28-2004 -- Added chalkboard and doorbell, thanks Bullroar Took for this info!

LEVEL 20+ RESTRICTION

There are a couple of ways to get writs.  One is to complete this quest.  Another way is to turn in any of the following to an Arcanum agent:

Writ Turn-In Items
Elemental Prisms
Pyreal Ingot
Diamond Powder
Niffis Pearl

A few notes about this quest:

  • You can only get the Writ once per character, ever

  • There is a 24 hour timer on the quest for the Furniture Shoppe access.

  • You must kill the Hollow Leader before you will be able to pick up the note.

The Story So Far...

Dark Majesty brought the ability to buy houses.  This quest gives you one route to get a writ for your house, and to gain access to the furniture shoppe, which contains Lawn Drudges, Signs, and Fountains as of this writing.

Step 0: Preparation

Proceed to Lytelthorpe.  From there, the dungeon is located at 2.2s, 50.7e.  Here is a map for the Hollow Lair, courtesy of ACMaps.

Step1: Talk to the Arcanum Envoy

Inside the entrance and down the stairs you will find the Arcanum Envoy.  When you talk to him, this is what he says:

Arcanum Envoy tells you, " Greetings, brave Adventurer!  Time is short, I fear.  We have discovered a delicate situation.  While the Virindi have apparently been vanquished, not all of their minions have followed suit."

Arcanum Envoy tells you, "There is a crazed Hollow Minion, who calls himself Dranith Menacet, residing at the end of these tunnels.  We have never heard of a hollow who possesses an individual name.  I hope this is the worst of the surprises we face in the near future."

Arcanum Envoy tells you, "Nuhmudira preserve us.  If you are able to reach and vanquish Dranith, please see if he has left anything of note behind.  The Arcanum is extremely interested in getting at the root of this problem.  According to the Arcanum, portalspace disruptions around the nine arrival towns are increasing daily.  We need to put a stop to this immediately."

Step 2: Find and kill the Hollow Leader

As you can see in the image above, you need to run down the passage and hang a left just before the room with the lifestone it it.  There are no branches after this; the corridor leads directly to the minion room.

Next, you need to kill the hollow minion shown above.  Frost seems to work best, but a piercing sword does the job quite nicely as well.

Step 3: Pick up the near illegible note

Now that the leader is dead, you can pick up the "Near Illegible Note" off the ground (shown by the arrow above) and run back to the beginning of the dungeon.  Talk to the Arcanum Envoy again, and this is what will happen:

Arcanum Envoy tells you, "So, have you found something?  Please give it to me, and I will give you in exchange a token from Nuhmudira.  She has instructed her Agents to give a writ of Refuge in return for this token.  Or, you could give the token back to me, and I can give you temporary access to this portal beside me, where you can purchase interesting items of decor for your home."

You give Arcanum Envoy A Near Illegible Note.

Arcanum Envoy tells you, "Ahh, here is the token of Nuhmudira's esteem."

Arcanum Envoy gives you Nuhmudira's Token.

Arcanum Envoy tells you, "You may use this token in one of two ways.  First, you may deliver it to an Agent of the Arcanum, and they will reward you with a Writ of Refuge.  But be aware that they will only do this once.  After that, they will have no need of these tokens from you."

Arcanum Envoy tells you, "The alternative is to give me back the token.  I will permit you to enter the portal next to me.  You will there see a furniture vendor who has unique items to sell you for your house.  Choose your desire with care."

The furniture shoppe sells the following items (will be updated as new items arrive:)

Item Cost
Garden Drudge 200,000 pyreals
Ornate Fountain 200,000 pyreals
Plaque 100,000 pyreals
Chalkboard 50,000 pyreals
Doorbell 20,000 pyreals
