Asheron's Call: Dark Majesty Quest Section

There is now an absolutely amazing and extremely well-done version of this quest write-up over on the Chosen of Solclaim's site.  You can view this writeup here.

Requirements/Restrictions:

  • Royal Hive is Level 70+ - This is where the queen is.  One person entering this dungeon will have to pull levers and not be able to get down to the bottom to fight the queen.

  • North Fork Dam Hive Portal - Level 70+

  • Mount Elryii Hive Portal - Level 70+

  • East Fork Dam Hive Portal - Level 50+

  • Persons using bells in Mehnir Rings cannot enter Timaru (Aun Town) for 21 Days

  • Person Who kills queen is the only one allowed to turn the head in for the xps

The Story So Far:

On the isle of Marae Lassel, Olthoi are being seen on the surface.  These Olthoi are new and different from their mainland versions.   There are many new portals appearing too, with various lairs as their destinations... With these tidings comes the possibility of a new queen breeding...

The Rewards

  • Olthoi Queen Head, turned in for 40 MILLION (yes, million) Experience Points, can only be turned in by person who killed the queen.

  • Person who kills queen and turns in head receives the title, "Queenslayer".

  • 5 Olthoi Carapaces, turned in for Olthoi Cuirass

  • 5 Olthoi Eggs, can be used to make various recipes

Step 0: Preparation

During each portion of the quest, you will be facing several types of Olthoi.  Here are the protections needed against each:

  • Soldier, Legionnaire, Noble - Piercing, Acid

  • Eviscerator - Slashing, Piercing, Acid

  • Brood Noble - Bludgeoning

  • Queen - Not sure, but she hits HARD!!!

Step 1: Retrieve 5 Pyreal Bells

You will need to acquire a total of 5 bells to do the main quest.  Each bell is made up of three parts.  These parts are no-drop no-give.  Once the parts are combined, they are givable however.  The person/people who ring the bells will NOT be allowed into the Aun town for 21 days, so make sure they do NOT kill the queen and get the head, or you will not be able to turn it in for the reward.  Here are the locations for each part:

Bell Piece

Coordinates

Dungeon Name

Piece of Curved Metal

48.5n, 76.4w

East Fork Dam Hive

Small piece of Curved Metal

48.3n, 80.5w

n/a (on surface)

Pyreal Mace

51.4n, 76.0w

North Fork Dam Hive

Step 2: Get Sprayed with Acid

The Pyreal Mace is listed last in the step above because you are not done in the North Fork Dam Hive just yet.  Past the chest with the Mace is an Acid Pit.  To get to this pit, you need to flip a lever in the room with the mace to open a door.  Everyone who plans to fight the queen will need to jump down into this pit, which has 4 Olthoi Eviscerators in it.  Each and every one of you will need to fight these monsters until you get a message that you have been sprayed with Acid.  This is the trigger that allows you to enter the Royal Hive.  Ignore the timer message about the acid spray, the spray effect lasts for a long time.

Step 3: Destroy the 5 Mehnir Rings

Now that everyone is all nice and acid-coated, we are ready to start the real quest.  The next step is to destroy the 5 Mehnir Rings spread around the isle, thereby allowing the olthoi to swarm the isle, and the queen to spawn.  REMEMBER: ANYONE GIVING A BELL CANNOT TURN IN THE HEAD, SO DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN!

Mehnir Ring Locations

49.3n, 74.6w

53n, 73.3w

46.5n, 75.8w

44.7n, 80.9w

50.1n, 81.3w

Each of the below rings spawns an Aun who is playing a drum, preventing the Olthoi from swarming.  Go to each one, and give that person a bell.  Here is what happens:

Aun xxxx says, "Greetings seeker. I am a spiritcaller of the Aua xuta. We are responsible for maintaining the stone rings of this island. Please disturb not my work, for all depends upon this rhythm."

You give Aun xxxx Pyreal Bell.

Aun xxxx tells you, "How intersting.  This is an instrument used by your people?  Tonk says, 'music is all and everlasting'"

The crashing of the great pyreal bell reverberates through the ground.  The menhir stones crack and break!

Aun xxxx tells you, "No!  What have you done!  Villian!"

Step 4: Enter the Royal Hive

Now that all 5 mehnir rings have been destroyed, and olthoi are swarming all over the place, Marae Lassel is now a mess.  Good Job! (lol)  Ok, now let's go find the queen.  Proceed to the Mount Elryii Hive portal, located at 48.5n, 81.7w.  As you enter this dungeon, here are the steps to follow:

  • Go NE

  • Kill Wisp

  • Go North to a large room

  • Jump Down into the lower area

  • Follow the passage to the Royal Hive Portal (70+)

Step 5: Kill the Queen

Now that you are in the Royal Hive, you will need to station one or more persons in the switch room to allow the others to get to the queen and kill her.  here are the steps to follow:

  • Queen killing team proceed down center hallway until you get to a door.

  • Switch team flip the West tunnel switch.

  • Queen killing team proceed down to the next door.

  • Switch team flip the East tunnel switch.

  • Queen killing team proceed on to the next door.

  • Switch team flip the South tunnel switch.

  • Switch team recall and head over to Timaru to await the queen killing team.

  • Queen killing team buff like there is no tomorrow.  Super-buff all armor, don or cast VII protects, buff your melee defense, buff your clothes, buff your hair, buff, buff, buff!!!

  • Queen killing team jumps down twice to get to the Queen.

  • Queen killing team gets slaughtered because they forgot to buff their helms or gaunts. :)  Seriously, buff the heck out of EVERYTHING!

Down in this final room is the Queen and her Royal Guard.  Fight like mad, tag-team the queen, cause she hits for LOTS of damage, and take her down quickly.  Whoever gets the kill, pick up the head off her corpse, along with an egg and carapace.  Since the carapace is no-drop-no-give until it is turned into the cuirass (and it weighs in at 2,400bu), I recommend that each person on the team only pick up one, if they want one.  Same goes true for the eggs, as they weigh 1,000bu each.

Step 6: Retrieve the Rewards

There are 2-3 steps to get all the rewards.  1st off, recall the team and get everyone outside of Timaru.  Form a Fellowship of the team members.  Buff everyone's leadership and loyalty to get the best bonus passed up.  The person who killed the queen can then go up into Timaru, and present the head of the queen to Aun Hareltah.  Here is what will happen:

{Killer's Name}, bloodied and battered after the battle in the Royal Hive, presents the stern Aun Hareltah with the head of the Olthoi Queen.

The Tah of Aun holds the head of the Queen before him, and bows in respect to the might of Wharu.

"Great anima of decay," he intones solemly, "bear no ill will towards {killer name}, who slew your servant respectfully."

"Further," Hareltah says with a smile, "{killer name} shall be known as my adopted kin!"

He pulls the startled {killer name} into a warm embrace, as the Aun whisper among themselves. "...not of Tonk!" Aun Dreganaua is heard to protest.

"You have saved this xuta," Hareltah says gravely, his powerful voice carrying over the susurrations of the crowd.  "For this, for all your experiences on the path to defeating the Queen, the hardest road known in these strange lands, I recognize you."

{killer name}'s party has been granted forty million experience points!

"Finally," Hareltah says, "there is the matter of this totem in my hands.  I will prepare it for you with my own hands, my kin, that you may hang it from your wall.  With its power, your house shall be mighty strong among Tonk and Isparian, and none shall wash the earth from under it."

Aun Hareltah embraces {killer name} again with tears in his eyes, and returns the head of the queen.

He will also give you a token you can give back for the "Queenslayer" title.

"From this point forward, {killer name} shall be known and honored among all Aun as Queenslayer."

Now that you have returned the head and gotten the big bonus, and the title of "Queenslayer", you can head over to the Olthoi Hunter to turn in the carapace.  When you do this, here is what will happen:

You give Olthoi Hunter Olthoi Carapace.

Olthoi Hunter tell you, "I feel humbled in your presence.  It's no small task obtaining one of these..."

Olthoi Hunter gives you Olthoi Cuirass.

Olthoi Hunter tells you, "Take good care of this.  It's a very special item."
